Corn A 9978 Z is a medium-late simple hybrid with dent-type kernels, intended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Northern Steppe zones. The plant is tall with narrow leaves, medium-length and diameter ears, slightly conical with a short stalk and medium number of rows of kernels. The kernels are intermediate type, upper part yellow, lower part yellow-orange, with intense anthocyanic coloring of the core. Leaves are slightly curved, with a small angle between leaf blade and stem, and medium anthocyanic coloring of the sheath of the first leaf and roots at the stem. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to stalk lodging and high tolerance to Helminthosporium, as well as good resistance to ear rot. Resistance to smut diseases is rated 6 out of 9. The FAO of the hybrid is 390, corresponding to a medium-late maturity period. Yield reaches 12-15 tons per hectare, making it profitable for various uses, including grain, alcohol, and silage production.
