Description
BELKOS 250 MV — this is a medium-early three-line hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.), intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including Central, Central Chernozem, North Caucasus, and Middle Volga. The hybrid is characterized by a vegetation period of 100–110 days and an optimal plant density of 64–67 thousand per hectare, ensuring high yields of both grain and silage. The ear height is 85–90 cm, facilitating ease of mechanical harvesting.
The BELKOS 250 MV hybrid is distinguished by resistance to lodging, blister rust, stalk rot, and cold tolerance. However, it is susceptible to bacterial disease and moderately affected by ear fungal infection. It also shows a moderate level of damage from corn borer. Due to its resistance and adaptability, the hybrid is well-suited for silage production, demonstrating high yield and quality of feedstock.
Grain yield varies across regions: in the Central region it reaches 103 c/ha, in the Central Chernozem region — up to 148.3 c/ha, and silage yield ranges from 550 to 650 c/ha. Record silage mass yields were recorded at the Kobrina trial station — 885 c/ha with 30% dry matter content. At harvest in the milk stage, the ear proportion in silage reaches 42%, indicating high quality of feedstock.

Dual-purpose hybrids: for silage and grain in all growing regions. These are "stay-green" type hybrids, meaning the plants remain green for a longer period. However, this does not affect the sugar, cellulose, and hemicellulose content, nor the degree of lignification of the plant... |
