The «Bogatyr» hybrid from KWS is the result of breeding work by the German originator Kws Saat Se & Co.Kgaa, aimed at creating a versatile product for intensive farming. The key feature of this hybrid is its flint-dent grain type. This morphology combines the high endosperm density of flint varieties with the high yield potential of dent corn, which is critical for efficient use in grain, silage, or biogas production.

Phytosanitary resistance and crop protection

Resistance to pathogens in «Bogatyr» is implemented through genetic coding against common smut, which prevents weight losses and ensures high forage quality. The hybrid’s added value lies in its tolerance to helminthosporiosis and stalk rot pathogens. This allows for fewer fungicide applications and reduces the overall chemical load on the agrocenosis.

Technological recommendations for planting density

The hybrid’s flexibility in adapting to different planting densities allows farmers to optimize sowing operations based on moisture availability and soil fertility levels:

• In high moisture conditions, a density of 85,000–90,000 plants/ha is recommended to maximize grain yield potential.
• Moderate densities (65,000–75,000 plants/ha) are optimal for stable biogas and silage production in adequately watered zones.
• In water-limited soils, a rate of 45,000–55,000 plants/ha is advised to minimize moisture competition and ensure proper ear development.

This adaptability makes «Bogatyr» a balanced solution for multi-purpose corn operations requiring stable dry matter output and high-energy silage mass.
