DN Sofia

The DN Sofia corn hybrid belongs to the medium-early maturity group with FAO 430 and is intended for cultivation as grain and silage. It is characterized by good early growth and high drought resistance, making it particularly valuable for steppe, forest-steppe zones, and the Polissia region. Plants reach a height of 230-240 cm, and the cylindrical ear length is 22-26 cm with 14-18 rows of kernels, which are yellow-orange in color with possible red stripes and dent shape. The 1000-kernel weight varies from 200 to 350 grams, and the grain moisture at harvest is approximately 16.5%.

DN Sofia is distinguished by high yield: the potential grain yield reaches 12-14 tons per hectare, and silage yield up to 74 tons per hectare. The hybrid responds well to improved cultivation conditions, including application of mineral fertilizers and irrigation, which contributes to stable and high yields. The recommended planting density depends on the region: in Polissia — 90 thousand plants per hectare, in forest-steppe — 75-80 thousand, and in steppe — 50-55 thousand. At the same time, the hybrid demonstrates high resistance to major diseases and pests, reducing the risk of crop losses.
