ES KATMANDU

The hybrid sweet corn ES KATMANDU is a high-yielding mid-season variety with a FAO index of 230, developed by breeders of Euralis (now Lideà). It is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, including drought and sharp temperature fluctuations, making it especially suitable for cultivation in the Polissian, forest-steppe, and northern steppe zones. Rapid growth during early vegetative stages facilitates a smooth and trouble-free transition from seedling to mature plant, ensuring stable crop development and high yields.

ES KATMANDU exhibits high cold tolerance and lodging resistance, reducing the risk of crop damage. The hybrid has excellent moisture shedding properties, significantly reducing the costs of post-harvest grain drying. The average plant height reaches 270 cm, with ear attachment height around 115 cm. The ears contain 14–16 rows of seeds, with approximately 29 kernels per row, and the average thousand-kernel weight is 300 g. These characteristics ensure high grain quality, making the hybrid attractive for processing.

Moreover, ES KATMANDU demonstrates high resistance to major corn diseases, including Fusarium ear and stalk rot, Helminthosporium, and smut and downy mildew. The hybrid is also tolerant to parasitic plant effects and well-adapted to cultivation on sandy and loamy soils. The profitability of growing this hybrid is high under both extensive and medium-intensity technologies, and its short growing season allows quicker field rotation for subsequent crops.
