Reliable grain results: field experience with RAGT Ekklame

When choosing a corn hybrid for grain, farmers often face the dilemma of choosing between fast moisture dry-down and high genetic yield potential. The French RAGT breeding program, specifically with the "Ekklame" hybrid, offers a balance that is noticeable right at the harvesting stage. As an operator, I would point out the dent grain type: it threshes cleanly, doesn't crush in the drum, and provides a predictable mass yield.

Field performance and yield

This is an intensive-type hybrid, so it is important not to cut corners on nutrition. In standard farm conditions, "Ekklame" demonstrates excellent starting vigor. Even with early sowing in cooler soil, germination is uniform. The FAO range of 90–1240 allows for flexible harvesting schedules, and the hybrid shows strong stalk integrity, which is critical to minimizing losses when using modern, high-capacity combines.
