Galactus

The Galactus hybrid sweet corn is a high-yielding mid-ripening variety with FAO 230, suitable for cultivation as grain or silage. It features stable productivity, confirmed by trials from 2017–2019, with an average grain yield of 125 ц/ha and a maximum of 171 ц/ha. The grain has a cream-colored, toothed type, with 9.1% protein and 72.2% starch, providing high energy potential. Average grain moisture at harvest is 27.4%, grain yield percentage is 78.9%, and 1000-grain weight is 317 g. When grown for silage, average dry matter yield reached 225 ц/ha, with a maximum of 330 ц/ha, and dry matter content in green mass is 34.2%. Galactus exhibits high spring cold tolerance, allowing successful cultivation on cold and heavy soils. Plants have a compact type and show high tolerance to spring frosts, promoting reliable and harmonious water use. The hybrid displays very high resistance to diseases such as fusarium, helminthosporium, and blister rust, significantly reducing yield loss risks and enhancing quality. This hybrid is ideal for inclusion in feed rations due to its high starch and protein content, ensuring high animal energy levels. Galactus is recommended for farms with a high proportion of green mass in feeding rations. Recommended planting rates are 85–100 thousand plants per hectare for grain production and 95–110 thousand plants per hectare for silage production. The hybrid is registered in several regions and included in the registry since 2020, confirming its adaptability and reliability for agricultural production.
