GS 180

GS 180 is an early-maturing three-line hybrid corn (Zea mays L.) intended for cultivation in various climatic zones, including the Central and Central Chernozem regions. Plants are of medium height (240-250 cm) with medium-width, narrow-shaped leaf blades. The ear is conical-cylindrical, located at a height of 95-100 cm, with a number of rows of kernels ranging from 14 to 18. The kernel is semi-ridged type, with intermediate coloring: the upper part is yellow, the lower part is yellow-orange. The hybrid is characterized by genetic multi-row ear and red stalk color. GS 180 is distinguished by rapid start-up and early development, ensuring high yields of grain and silage. Average grain yield reaches 79.6 c/ha in the Central region and 76.2 c/ha in the Central Chernozem region, corresponding to 11.5–12.0 t/ha. Silage yield is 45.0–50.0 t/ha. The hybrid is resistant to major diseases and pests, including Fusarium ear rot and stalk rots, which increases its technological efficiency and profitability in seed production. Recommended planting density varies depending on soil moisture: from 60–62 thousand plants per hectare in areas with insufficient moisture to 65–70 thousand plants per hectare in areas with adequate moisture. Insecticide-fungicide treatment is recommended for plant protection. GS 180 has increased carotene content and very rapid water shedding, making it attractive for intensive agriculture in steppe, forest-steppe zones, and meadows.
