Hybrid sugar corn GS 240 is a medium-early trihybrid variety with FAO 240, intended for cultivation as both grain and silage. It features an intensive type, ensuring high yield potential up to 14 tons per hectare. The plant is characterized by a strong stalk and robust root system, contributing to lodging resistance and high drought tolerance. Ear maturity occurs on green stalks, and rapid moisture loss facilitates harvesting at low grain moisture levels.
The GS 240 corn ear has a conical-cylindrical shape with 16-18 rows of semi-ridged yellow kernels. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 320 grams. The grain is distinguished by high starch content (up to 70-73%) and protein (9.0-9.3%), making the hybrid valuable for various applications. Moderate anthocyanin pigmentation in the first leaf sheath and roots, along with weak silk and cob stem pigmentation, are characteristic features of this variety.
GS 240 demonstrates high tolerance to Fusarium and other ear diseases, confirmed by low field infection rates.
