A reliable dent-type hybrid for stable grain yields with excellent dry-down capacity.
Description
Field Performance of KWS Kerberos
When selecting hybrids for grain production, consistency is the key. KWS Kerberos has proven itself to be a reliable choice that delivers predictable results. With an FAO rating of 340, it fits perfectly into a 120-140 day maturity window, which is crucial for logistics planning during the harvesting season.
Agronomic Management and Field Observations
The dent-type grain is a clear advantage for moisture dry-down. Faster dry-down directly translates into lower drying costs, which is a major factor for your bottom line. We have noted excellent resistance to common smut (Ustilago maydis), which keeps management efforts focused on standard crop protection rather than constant damage control.
- Planting Density: We have operated this hybrid at densities of 60,000–65,000 plants/ha in rain-fed conditions, and pushed it to 75,000–80,000 plants/ha under irrigation. It maintains a consistent structure and shows minimal lodging issues in both cases.
- Harvesting: The ears are well-filled, and the grain threshes easily, keeping harvest losses to a bare minimum, even with later-season field conditions.
Kerberos is a "workhorse" hybrid. It isn't demanding, but it responds well to good management. For operators, the strong stalk integrity makes the harvesting process smooth and efficient, reducing downtime and maintenance headaches.

Corn hybrids are classified by maturity groups and by the FAO number. All corn hybrids are distributed according to the FAO scale. Under Central European conditions, a difference of 10 FAO units between hybrids results in a 1-2 day difference in their maturity. The higher the FAO... |

Dual-purpose hybrids: for silage and grain in all growing regions. These are "stay-green" type hybrids, meaning the plants remain green for a longer period. However, this does not affect the sugar, cellulose, and hemicellulose content, nor the degree of lignification of the plant... |
