A stable German hybrid that features excellent dry-down and reliable grain yields.
Description
Reliable field performance
Working with the KWS Allegro hybrid, you quickly appreciate the German approach to breeding. This simple corn hybrid is consistent and predictable, which is essential for large-scale production. Its dent-flint grain type is a real benefit during harvest; the hybrid dries down efficiently, helping us cut back on drying costs and keeping our margins intact.
Agronomics and Seeding Density
KWS Allegro is highly responsive to variable seeding rates depending on field moisture levels. We typically set the planter to 50-60 thousand plants/ha in moisture-stressed areas, and scale up to 75-85 thousand plants/ha on high-yield, well-managed soils. This flexibility allows us to push the yield potential of every individual field.
Disease Resistance and Development
Field health is excellent. We have noted strong resistance to loose smut (Ustilago maydis), and the hybrid handles pressure from onion stem smut effectively, which significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide programs. With a maturity window of 140-160 days, it fits well into our harvesting schedule.
