A stable and high-yielding choice for balanced grain and silage production.
Description
Field Experience with «Lorens» Hybrid
Working with the «Lorens» hybrid from «Товариство З Обмеженою Відповідальністю» has proven that Swiss breeding standards translate directly into field resilience. With a maturity cycle of 120–140 days, this hybrid fits perfectly into our crop rotation, allowing for efficient harvest planning even under changing seasonal conditions. It is a predictable performer that doesn't demand excessive specialized equipment adjustments.
Operational Guidelines
Based on our experience, managing plant density is key to unlocking the hybrid's yield potential. For grain production, we find that a density of 75–80k plants per hectare provides the best balance between individual ear development and field yield. For silage purposes, pushing the density to 80–85k plants per hectare helps maximize biomass without sacrificing overall plant health. On less productive soil, staying at 65–70k plants per hectare ensures that every plant gets enough nutrients to reach its full potential.
- FAO 90–1240: High flexibility across different agro-climatic zones.
- Versatile Use: Excellent performance for both grain and high-quality silage.
- Harvest Efficiency: Consistent moisture dry-down reduces drying costs at the elevator.
What I appreciate most as an operator is how responsive this maize is to standard fertilization practices. It doesn't require constant monitoring for "special needs" and maintains structural integrity until the harvest. The ears are uniform, which makes the harvesting process smooth and minimizes losses. Ultimately, it is a reliable choice for operations looking to balance high yield with manageable operational costs.

Corn hybrids are classified by maturity groups and by the FAO number. All corn hybrids are distributed according to the FAO scale. Under Central European conditions, a difference of 10 FAO units between hybrids results in a 1-2 day difference in their maturity. The higher the FAO... |
