A versatile and reliable hybrid delivering consistent yield and high resistance to major corn diseases.
Description
Reliable performance in diverse conditions
When working with Corteva’s P9759, you quickly realize this corn hybrid is built for consistency. It is a simple hybrid with dent-type grain, designed for versatility. We utilize it for both grain and silage production, which offers excellent flexibility for our farm’s feed management and commercial sales. It performs predictably, making it a reliable workhorse in the field.
Field Health: Less stress, better margins
Disease pressure is a constant concern for any grower, but P9759 offers significant genetic protection. Throughout the growing season, we have noticed remarkable resistance to common pathogens. It effectively handles stem and root rots, and we rarely see issues with smut (both boil and loose). Its solid defense against helminthosporium ensures the leaves remain active well into the season, which is crucial for maximizing grain filling.
Planting Strategy and Density
From an operator's perspective, the P9759 is straightforward to manage during planting. To ensure optimal performance, we follow these density guidelines:
- In high-fertility environments with sufficient moisture, we target 60,000–65,000 plants/ha to fully capture the yield potential.
- On drier ground or less productive fields, we scale back to 55,000–60,000 plants/ha to avoid over-stressing the plants and ensure consistent kernel weight.
The dent-type grain structure is a major operational benefit during harvest, as it promotes efficient moisture dry-down. This translates directly to lower drying costs, which significantly improves our bottom-line profitability.

Dual-purpose hybrids: for silage and grain in all growing regions. These are "stay-green" type hybrids, meaning the plants remain green for a longer period. However, this does not affect the sugar, cellulose, and hemicellulose content, nor the degree of lignification of the plant... |
