SCANDINAV

Scandinav is an early, complex hybrid of corn (Zea mays L.), included in the State Register for the Volga-Vyatka region for silage production. The vegetation period is 107 days, and the sum of effective temperatures for maturity is 1240 °C. Plants are tall with wide leaf blades and medium ear density. The ears have a weakly conical shape, medium length and diameter, ranging from thin to medium. The kernels are silvery, orange in color, with moderate anthocyanin pigmentation of the cob. Average yield in the region reaches 122.8 c/ha, with maximum yields up to 355.7 c/ha, and dry matter content is approximately 30.3%. The hybrid Scandinav features balanced morphological characteristics: average tassel flowering time, average silk emergence, and average ratio of upper ear attachment height to plant height. Leaves have a curved position, and anthocyanin pigmentation of the first leaf sheath and tassel base is absent or very weak. These traits ensure good plant adaptation to the growing region and contribute to stable yields. Scandinav is intended for silage production due to its high dry matter content and high yield. Cultivation is recommended in the Volga-Vyatka region, where the hybrid performs excellently.
