Description
Silvinio maize has a starchy kernel type with a grain yield of 82–83%, and it exhibits rapid moisture loss, simplifying drying and storage of the harvest. The hybrid demonstrates high adaptability and is suited to various growing conditions. Recommended planting density under favorable conditions is 75–85 thousand plants per hectare, and in drought-prone areas — 55–75 thousand per hectare. The 1000-kernel weight ranges from 290 to 310 grams, with 14–16 rows per ear and 34–38 kernels per row.
The potential yield of the Silvinio hybrid reaches 14 tons per hectare. In field trials of 2015, with grain moisture content of 14%, high yields were recorded: 10.8 t/ha in Chernihiv region, 9.6 t/ha in Zhytomyr region, and 10.5 t/ha in Khmelnytskyi region. Due to its characteristics and high yield potential, Silvinio is a reliable choice for farmers seeking stable and high-quality maize yields in northern Ukraine.
