Description
Plants of the hybrid reach a height of 2.70–2.80 m, have 18 leaves per stem, and ears are positioned at a height of 110–115 cm. The ears are conical-cylindrical in shape, 24–26 cm long, well-filled with yellow, tooth-shaped kernels, 42–48 kernels per row and 16–18 rows. The thousand kernel weight is 310–340 g, the grain yield reaches 81%, with protein and starch content of 72.2% and 10.7% respectively. The hybrid is characterized by the absence of bushiness throughout the entire vegetation period, which contributes to uniform plant development.
ST Luca is characterized by low requirements for cultivation conditions, tolerance to low spring temperatures and high resistance to lodging, major diseases and pests. It also has drought resistance and resilience to stress factors. The hybrid is successfully adapted to various climatic-territorial zones of Ukraine, including the Polissia, steppe and forest-steppe regions. For optimal yield, it is recommended to observe the pre-harvest plant density: 45–55 thousand plants per hectare in steppe regions, 60–65 thousand in forest-steppe and 65–70 thousand in Polissia zones. In addition, ST Luca corn seeds are treated with Maxim HL and Vaybrans, providing additional protection against pests.
