Cassius

Cassius cucumber is an early parthenocarpic hybrid designed for intensive cultivation techniques both in greenhouses and open ground. This variety is versatile and suitable for spring-autumn cycles, as well as demonstrates good performance under summer conditions. Fruit set begins 32-35 days after planting, allowing for early harvest.

Cassius fruits have an attractive dark green color, length of 10-14 cm, and weight of about 100-120 g. They have a cylindrical shape without conicalness or ridges, with uniform size along the entire length. A distinctive feature is the presence of spines covering the entire surface of the cucumber, making them a benchmark among "spiny" gherkins. The flesh is sweet, free of bitterness, with a pleasant aroma, making this variety ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for processing, canning, and pickling.

Cassius plants feature a strong root system and vigorous lateral branches, ensuring high yields — 38 to 45 fruits per plant. The hybrid’s distinctive feature is its cluster fruiting type, where up to 6-7 cucumbers can form in one node, and all fruits develop well without dropping even under sharp temperature fluctuations. The thick yet balanced skin provides reliable transportability and protection against wilting, making this variety especially attractive for commercial cultivation.
