Totoshka

Cucumber Totoшка — an ultra-early, high-yielding parthenocarpic hybrid of the cornichon type, developed by Siberian scientists. This variety features an exclusively female flowering type, eliminating the need for pollination and ensuring stable fruiting. The fruits are cylindrical, 8.5–10 cm long, weighing 43–85 grams, dark green in color with a white-spiculated surface and small bumps. The cucumbers are dense, crisp, flavorless, and have excellent taste qualities, suitable for fresh consumption, pickling, and canning. The plant is medium-vined, indeterminate, and tends to form clusters of fruits — up to four fruits per node. The hybrid demonstrates high yields: up to 30 kg per square meter in plastic greenhouses and up to 16 kg in open ground. Totoшка is resistant to a wide range of diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew (true and false), bacterial wilt, root rot, cucumber mosaic virus, olive and target leaf spots, and cucumber vein yellowing virus, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under challenging Siberian climatic conditions. For successful cultivation of cucumber Totoшка, use fertile, well-aerated loamy soils. Sow seeds in the soil at a temperature no lower than 13°C, and transplant seedlings after the threat of frost has passed. Plants require regular watering with warm water, feeding with complex mineral fertilizers, and training vines with pinching off lower fruits and side shoots for optimal development. Due to its adaptability and resistance to adverse weather conditions, this hybrid is ideal for cultivation in open ground, plastic greenhouses, and on balconies using vertical supports.
