Description
Dahlia 'Snowy Russia' is a cactus-type dahlia variety distinguished by its rich pure-white inflorescence color and compact bush form. Bushes reach heights ranging from 90 to 140 cm, depending on growing conditions. Stems are sturdy and flexible, with lengths varying from 20 to 50 cm, while the inflorescences have a diameter of 15–20 cm.
Dahlia petals are narrow, slightly twisted at the base, creating an effect of snowy abundance. Stems are often semi-closed and upright, giving the bush a neat appearance. Ray florets are numerous, long and thin, rolled into a tube with pointed tips.
The variety is resilient to unfavorable conditions: it withstands slight frosts without losing its decorative qualities, but dies upon prolonged exposure to negative temperatures. For winter storage, tubers are dug up and kept in a dry place until March–April, after which they are planted in pots. Transplanting to open ground is carried out only from May–June, as the plant dislikes shade and grows better in groups. The flowering period lasts from August to October, making it a valuable decorative element in a garden or on a balcony.
