ILYA MUROMETS

The Ilya Muromec eggplant variety is a medium-sized plant with a height of 0.7 to 1 meters, featuring bright green leaves and an anthocyanin-stained stem. This variety is distinguished by its high yield and resistance to diseases such as phytophthora and powdery mildew, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in various conditions—in open ground, under film coverings, and in greenhouses.

The fruits of the Ilya Muromec variety are large, cylindrical, measuring 35-40 cm in length and up to 10 cm in diameter, with a weight ranging from 500 to 700 grams. They have a glossy dark purple skin that is thin and delicate, and the flesh is creamy-white, meaty, very tasty, and practically devoid of seed cavities, even in the largest fruits. Thanks to these qualities, the eggplants are excellent for baking, making caviar, vegetable stews, and home canning.

The variety is mid-season, with the period from germination to fruiting lasting 110-115 days. To obtain a good harvest, it is recommended to sow for seedlings at the end of February, with pricking out at the seed leaf stage and transplanting into open ground or a greenhouse at the end of May. After transplanting, the plants are shaped by removing side shoots and leaves up to the first fork, and the planting scheme is 40x60 cm. The fruits of this variety store well and withstand transportation, making them convenient for marketing and long-term use.
