Reliable protection for orchards and fields: using GART, WP

When it comes to fighting fungal diseases such as late blight or scab, having a proven tool in your arsenal is essential. GART, WP from the Cherkasy-based 'Fabryka Ahrokhimikativ' is a contact fungicide that has long been a 'workhorse' in my operations. Its main advantage is the time-tested active ingredient, copper hydroxide, which effectively blocks pathogen development on the leaf surface.

Practical application insights

The product comes as a wettable powder. When preparing the spray solution, it dissolves quite well without clogging sprayer nozzles, which is critical when working on large scales. Based on my observations, a rate of 25–30 g per 100 sq. m is optimal for ensuring complete coverage of the plant surface.

• Efficiency: It handles anthracnose, downy mildew on grapes, and macrosporiosis exceptionally well.
• Versatility: Suitable for apple and peach trees, as well as vegetable crops like potatoes and tomatoes.
• Protection schedule: Up to 3–4 applications per season are permitted. The most important thing is to remember the 30-day pre-harvest interval, so planning your spraying schedule in advance is a must.

Operational nuances

Since this is a contact fungicide, the key to success is thorough coverage of all plant parts. The copper creates a protective barrier, preventing fungi from penetrating the tissue. The product belongs to hazard class 3, requiring standard safety precautions during handling. In variable weather conditions, GART performs consistently: it does not wash off with the first rain as easily as many alternatives, allowing for confident disease control in both vineyards and orchards.
