Description
Effective bacterial protection: my experience with Kasumin 2L
When bacterial blight or cercospora appears in the fields, there is no time for experiments. Kasumin 2L from the Japanese manufacturer Hokko Chemical Industry has become my "last resort" tool that truly stops the infection. It is a systemic fungicide that works not only on the surface but also penetrates deep into the plant tissue, which is critical for controlling bacteria.
Field Application Insights
The product comes as an aqueous solution, making tank mixing extremely easy. No sediment, no hassle with dissolving powders — just pour it into the tank, stir, and start the spray run. The application rate ranges from 1 to 3 liters per hectare, depending on the severity of the infection and the crop canopy.
- Crops: I use it successfully on cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and orchards (apple and pear trees).
- Targets: Works perfectly against bacterial blight and cercospora. On rice, it effectively suppresses rice blast (pyricularia).
- Safety: Classified as hazard class 3, which allows for easier handling, though standard protective measures should still be followed.
Operational Tips
The main lesson I've learned is that efficacy depends entirely on following the protocol. It is optimal to perform 2–3 treatments per season. Crucially, keep the 30-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) in mind. This period allows the plant to fully metabolize the active ingredient, kasugamycin. The product excels when you need not just to "treat" a plant, but to stop the spread of a disease outbreak at an early stage. Its systemic nature gives it a huge advantage over contact fungicides, as it protects even those areas that the spray solution didn't reach directly.
