The 'Platon' fungicide by Vitagro Group is a high-efficiency combination of active ingredients designed for comprehensive pathogen control in winter wheat crops. The formulation relies on a blend of three active agents: prochloraz (imidazoles), tebuconazole, and cyproconazole (triazoles).

Mechanism of Action: Why It Works

• Prochloraz: provides potent local-systemic action. It blocks ergosterol biosynthesis in fungal cells, preventing growth at early stages. In the 'Platon' formula, it acts as a 'shield,' neutralizing infection both on the surface and within plant tissues.
• Tebuconazole and Cyproconazole: systemic triazoles. They move rapidly through the plant's vascular system, suppressing fusarium, septoria, and powdery mildew. The triazole component not only halts mycelium growth but also provides a distinct 'stop-effect,' curbing the further spread of spores.

Technically, 'Platon' is formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate, allowing for rapid penetration through the waxy cuticle of leaves and spikes. The systemic nature of the product ensures that active ingredients are redistributed throughout the plant, including new growth, providing protection for up to 3-4 weeks depending on the infectious pressure.

Practical Application Details

A dosage of 1.0–2.0 L/ha allows for flexible adaptation based on the severity of the crop infection. The maximum number of treatments is 2 per season. Due to the synergy of different classes of active substances, 'Platon' effectively prevents pathogen resistance development, which is critical in fields with a high risk of eyespot (Cercosporella) and helminthosporiosis.
