Description
The Gladiolus variety "Lilac Evening" is an exquisite plant with a rich lilac hue and a satin sheen on its petals. The blooms are large, measuring 11.5 to 15 cm in diameter, featuring a dense texture and beautiful strong ruffling that gives them volume and expressiveness. This variety is distinguished by smooth color transitions from light beige-brown to a rich purple tone near the center of the flower, creating an effect of depth and luxury.
The plant reaches a height of 120–140 cm, forming a majestic vertical element in the flower bed. The sturdy and straight scape can carry from 20 to 24 buds, from which 8–10 flowers open simultaneously. The flowering period is medium, typically occurring from late July to August. The gladiolus tolerates weather changes well, however, it requires moderate watering as it is sensitive to excessive moisture.
For successful cultivation of bulb corms, it is recommended to plant in well-drained soil to a depth of 8–12 cm with a spacing of 15–20 cm between plants. The ideal planting site is sunny, with the possibility of light partial shade on hot days. Regular application of organic and mineral fertilizers promotes abundant and prolonged flowering. To prevent the scapes from bending, it is recommended to tie them. This gladiolus will be a wonderful decoration for the garden and excellent material for creating luxurious bouquets.
