Genetic Profile and Morphological Traits

The «Charovny Svitok» (Magic Dawn) gladiolus is a product of professional breeding by the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. The selection process prioritized adaptation to regional climatic conditions, resulting in a compact plant that minimizes vertical growth while maximizing floral intensity.

Technical Development Parameters

• Height: 40–60 cm. Classified as a dwarf variety, its low profile ensures high resistance to lodging, eliminating the need for support systems.
• Color Palette: A vibrant combination of orange and red. The pigments show resistance to UV-induced fading, maintaining high aesthetic appeal during peak summer heat.
• Corm Specifications: Sizes 2–3 cm and 3–4 cm. These calibers are optimal for ensuring vigorous development and immediate blooming in the season following planting.

Agrotechnical Requirements

The variety is non-winter-hardy. The primary operational constraint is the mandatory lifting of corms at the end of the vegetation period. Proper winter storage—at temperatures between +4°C and +8°C with controlled humidity—is critical to prevent premature germination or fungal decay.

Practical Utility

Due to its dwarf stature and dense inflorescence, «Charovny Svitok» serves as an excellent solution for foreground landscaping, border arrangements, and container gardening. Its small root system is well-suited for pot culture, where space efficiency and consistent height are required for visual balance.
