Description
Hreshenik — a new medium-maturing blackcurrant variety developed by Ukrainian breeders and recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polesie regions. The bushes are medium-sized, moderately branched, with a small number of thorns on the stems. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, resistance to powdery mildew, septoria, and other diseases, as well as drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions.
The berries of the Hreshenik variety are medium-sized, weighing about 5 grams, green in color. They have a sweet taste with a slight tartness and a pleasant aftertaste, confirmed by high sensory evaluation. The yield is high and stable, reaching up to 8 kg per bush, and the berries tolerate transportation well, making the variety high-quality for commercial use.
For successful cultivation, blackcurrants should be planted in a sunny location with well-drained soil. The planting hole should be prepared with the addition of manure, ash, and superphosphate. At planting, the root collar should be buried 5-7 cm deep, followed by watering and mulching. The distance between bushes should be 1.2-1.5 meters, and between rows — 2-2.5 meters, ensuring optimal conditions for growth and development of the plants.
