Description
Neslukhovskiy currant is an early-ripening and high-yielding variety developed by the Lviv branch of the Institute of Horticulture of UAAN in 1970. The bushes of this variety grow up to 1.5–2 meters tall, have strong thorns and sturdy branches that do not bend under the weight of the fruit, eliminating the need for additional support. Fruit production begins as early as the second year after planting, allowing for a quick harvest. The bushes thrive in sunny locations and prefer fertile, loose soils, while the variety is distinguished by high frost resistance and disease resistance, including septoria and powdery mildew. The berries of the Neslukhovskiy currant are large, oval-shaped, weighing 4–10 grams, and colored in a deep red or purple hue. The flesh has a pleasant dessert-like flavor with a slight tartness, making the fruit particularly attractive to consumers. Ripe berries can remain on the bush for a long time without falling off or losing their flavor and appearance, which is convenient for harvesting and storage. The variety is characterized by high yield and adaptability to growing conditions, making it suitable for both commercial cultivation and private gardens. A compact, heavily thorned bush with straight, medium-thick shoots ensures ease of care and harvesting. Due to its combination of early ripening, large berry size, and disease resistance, the Neslukhovskiy currant is a reliable and profitable choice for cultivation.
