Galle

Hazelnut variety "Galle" — a high-yielding and popular German selection, representing a vigorous shrub with a wide-branched, conical, and moderately dense crown reaching a height of about 5.5 meters. Leaves are large, elliptical, dark green, and turn orange-yellow in autumn. Flowering begins early in spring, in early April, when elegant catkins appear, contributing to successful fruit formation.

The hazelnuts of the "Galle" variety are characterized by large size (2.5-3.0 g), proper conical shape with a pointed tip, and attractive appearance. The nuts have light-brown shells with darker stripes and a slight sheen, while the kernels are light-brown, sweet, flavorful, and large. Nuts ripen from mid-September to October and are harvested in clusters of 2-5 nuts. The flesh of the fruits has a dessert-like flavor and high nutritional value.

The "Galle" variety is characterized by regular and abundant fruiting, which begins on the 3rd-4th year after planting. For successful pollination, varieties such as "Kosford" and "Barcelon" are required. The plant requires protection from cold and waterlogged soil, as well as from wind, which is important for maintaining the health of the shrub and high yield.
