LENTINA

Hazelnut "Lentina" is an early variety with high yield, reaching 3.5–4 kg per bush. The nuts are small (about 2 g), elongated, yellowish-brown in color, with a thin shell and an oily, buttery nut kernel flavor. The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness – it withstands temperatures down to -42 °C.

The plant shows excellent shade tolerance and adaptability to soils: it grows on both loams and sandy soils, is not afraid of winds and frosts. A beautiful, lush crown with large leaves makes it suitable for landscape design and living hedges. Flowering begins in early spring before the leaves open; golden staminate catkins up to 5 cm long appear on the trees, as well as pistillate flowers.

Usually, the raceme contains from 3 to 7 nuts, but in some cases it can be up to 30. The nuts are oval or spherical, easily cracked due to the light-green bell-shaped husk. The variety is also used as a pollinator for other green varieties due to the large number of male inflorescences.

Hazelnut "Lentina" is characterized by resistance to diseases and pests, as well as high content of useful substances, which makes it a popular choice both for garden cultivation and commercial nut production.
