Description
Andromeda Fog is a garden amaryllis belonging to the Leopold-hybrid group. It is a perennial, herbaceous, and bulbous plant reaching a height of about 50 cm. The bulbs are large; typically, one bulb forms from one to six flower stalks, while the stems are upright, hollow, and powerful.
Amaryllis flowers feature a wide, open shape with a diameter of 16–17 cm. The main flower background is pink-red, with an atlas-like red part in the center, while the base is light green. The pistil and stamen filaments are salmon-pink, turning light green at the base. The perianth lobes are oval with a claw; the outer side color is pale red, and the inner side is pink-red with dark veins. The scent is weak, but the flowers retain their brightness and do not fade.
The variety is distinguished by good transportability of cut flowers and resistance to Stagonosporosis. The multiplication coefficient of first-grade bulbs is 2.6, making it attractive for obtaining cut flower products in greenhouses. Leaves are green, ground-level, linear, or oblong-lanceolate, dense, and have a pronounced keel on the underside. Transport and storage of flowers are carried out without loss of quality due to the stable structure of flower stalks.
