Cultivation Guide for Hippeastrum 'Inna'

Developed by the Ufa Federal Research Center of the RAS, the 'Inna' variety is a classic large-flowered cultivar. With a stalk height of 70–80 cm, it presents specific operational requirements. The plant is top-heavy, so I recommend using heavy ceramic pots to ensure stability; lightweight plastic containers often require additional ballast to prevent tipping when the plant is in full bloom.

Maintenance and Growth Conditions

Successful management of this variety involves managing its seasonal cycle:

• Indoor conditions: 'Inna' thrives on sunny, south-facing windowsills. Insufficient light results in elongated, weak stems, so if your location is shaded, auxiliary lighting is a necessary investment to maintain structural integrity.
• Outdoor cultivation: During summer, moving the plant to the garden is an excellent way to recharge the bulb. When planting, ensure that no more than two-thirds of the bulb is buried in the soil to prevent rot and encourage healthy root respiration.

The primary factor in keeping this plant productive is the dormant period. Once the leaves fade, 'Inna' requires a 2–3 month cooling period in a dry area (12–15°C). Skipping this phase will effectively turn your plant into a foliage-only specimen for the following year.

Fertilizer consumption is modest. Focus on potassium-rich formulas during the budding stage to support the large blooms. If maintained correctly, the bulb is highly resilient and will reliably flower season after season.
