FAKIR is a modern hop variety (Humulus lupulus L.) bred in 2009 at NIPTIKH and included in the state register in 2011. The variety is characterized by medium anthocyanin coloration of the main shoot, green leaves, and a normal growth type. Side shoots form from the middle third of the plant, are of medium length, and bear numerous large cones with slightly open scales and medium-length tips.
The yield of this variety is about 30–31 centners per hectare, while the weight of 100 cones is 58.3 g. The content of bitter substances reaches 25.2%, alpha-acids—4.8%, and tannins (polyphenols)—4.0%. The aroma of the cones is persistent with a delicate hop scent, making them especially valuable for brewing. The vegetative period is 103 days, and the variety possesses winter hardiness.
FAKIR is distinguished by its resistance to root rots and pseudo-peronosporosis, as well as its ability to withstand abnormal environmental conditions. These properties make it a reliable choice for brewers seeking stable and high-quality raw materials.
