Faraon

Humulus lupulus L. variety «Pharaoh» was developed and registered by FGBNU «Federal Agro-Scientific Center of the North-East named after N.V. Rudnitsky». The variety is characterized by medium anthocyanin coloration of the main stem, green leaves, and medium flowering time. Lateral shoots emerge from the lower third of the plant, have medium length, and bear numerous, large cones with closed bracts. The time of technical ripening of cones is also medium, which ensures convenience of harvest collection during a 104-day growing period.

The yield of «Pharaoh» is about 26 kg of raw material per hectare, with bitter substance content reaching 20.6%, alpha acids – 3.5%, and tannins (polyphenols) – 4.1%. The mass of 100 cones equals 59.2 g. The cones possess a persistent, mild hop aroma, making them particularly valuable for brewing. The variety is resistant to root rot and pseudo-peronosporosis, as well as winter-hardy, allowing its use in various climatic conditions.

The main application of «Pharaoh» is beer production. Due to the balanced content of bitter substances and aromatic components, the cones of this variety impart the beverage with a characteristic taste and stability. The variety is suitable both for traditional lager styles and for more complex styles where a deep hop profile is required. In general, «Pharaoh» represents a reliable and high-quality culture capable of meeting the requirements of modern brewing enterprises.
