A systemic insecticide based on imidacloprid for effective protection of ornamental plants against sucking pests.
Description
Systemic Pest Control for Ornamental Plants
"Цветолюкс" (Tsvetolyuks) is an insecticide based on imidacloprid designed to combat the most persistent pests on ornamental plants. The core advantage of this formulation lies in its systemic action, which fundamentally alters the efficacy of pest management in garden and indoor horticulture.
Mechanism of Action: Blocking Neural Conduction
The active ingredient, imidacloprid, belongs to the neonicotinoid class. It works by irreversibly binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic membranes of the insect's nervous system. For the pest, this triggers immediate cessation of feeding followed by paralysis and death. Crucially, imidacloprid is absorbed into the plant’s vascular system and translocated throughout the entire plant (translaminary and systemic distribution). This renders the plant toxic to pests even in areas not covered by direct spray contact.
Targeting Hidden Pests
- Whitefly and Aphids: Due to its systemic nature, the product reaches sucking pests even when they are hidden on the underside of leaves.
- Thrips: Imidacloprid effectively halts thrip populations by disrupting their life cycle.
- Scale Insects (Coccidae): Systemic action allows the product to penetrate the protective shield of these insects, as it enters the plant sap that the parasite consumes.
Application and Technical Specs
The product is supplied as an aqueous solution, ensuring excellent solubility and stability of the working mixture. Classified as hazard class 3, it is suitable for private gardening provided that standard protective measures are followed. The regulations allow for a maximum of 2 applications per season. With a dosage of 5 ml used for foliar treatment, the active agent is distributed evenly across the foliage. Thanks to its systemic mechanism, "Цветолюкс" maintains a protective effect for an extended period, creating a durable barrier against re-infestation.
