Description
TOMIC 3 is a variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata), characterized by early maturity and adaptability to various climatic conditions. The vegetative period of the variety ranges from 78 to 85 days depending on the growing region. The stem is of medium length, with blue-violet corolla coloring at the bud stage and blue at full development. Seeds are brown; the weight of 1000 seeds varies from 4.8 to 5.3 grams. The box is small, without fringed false septum. The pistil has blue coloring at the base.
The variety is distinguished by high yield and quality fiber indicators. In various regions, flax straw yield reaches from 35.5 to 59.1 centners per hectare, and seeds — from 4.5 to 5.7 centners per hectare. Fiber content ranges from 27.4% to 30.4%, and long fiber yield is from 24.4% to 27.0%. The relative breaking load of the fiber is within 10.2–11.9 dN, indicating the strength of the material.
TOMIC 3 possesses good resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought, as well as high resistance to fungal and bacterial diseases, including anthracnose, bacterial blight, and Fusarium wilt. Recommended for cultivation in the Central, Western Siberian, and Northwestern regions with the application of intensive technologies and nitrogen fertilizers at doses of 25–30 kg/ha of active substance. The sowing rate is 22–24 million seeds per hectare.
