Description
BAZENA® is a highly productive forage crop variety of variable alfalfa, developed at the P.P. Lukyanenko Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture. This blue hybrid variety is characterized by a powerful taproot system with branching, high winter hardiness, and resistance to freezing and lodging. Plants reach a height of 130-145 cm, featuring semi-erect to erect bushes with medium bushiness, light green inversely oval leaflets, and cylindrical dense inflorescences with flowers ranging from light to dark purple. Seeds are kidney-shaped, yellow, medium-sized, with a hard seed content of 10-15% and a 1000-seed mass of 1.8-2.2 g.
BAZENA® is adapted to frequent mowing, forming up to 4-5 cuts per season, which allows for efficient use both for hay production and pasture purposes. The average period from the start of spring vegetation to the first cut is 84 days in the first year and 56 days in the second, while the period from regrowth to full seed maturity is 112-114 days. The potential yield of forage mass under rainfed conditions reaches 970 c/ha, with seeds reaching 4.9 c/ha. Protein content in the plant is 22%, and fiber content is 32%, ensuring high nutritional value for agricultural animals.
The BAZENA® variety is resistant to major diseases, and combined with its adaptability to various climatic conditions, makes it competitive and in demand in the Southern Federal District and Krasnodar Krai. Due to its varietal qualities and stable yield, alfalfa BAZENA® is one of the best options for improving forage production efficiency and providing animals with quality feed.
