Alfalfa of the Niizhnegorodskaya variety is a perennial plant of the legume family, belonging to yellow alfalfa. In spring, the plant is of medium height with an upright bush and medium green leaf color. Leaves are small, dark green, lanceolate and soft, with moderate waxy coating. Inflorescences are bright yellow, spike-shaped, consisting of 12-25 flowers. The root system is powerful and taprooted, which contributes to good plant stability. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 1.8 to 2.3 grams.

The variety is characterized by medium plant height of up to 90 cm with 7-9 internodes, an open rosette form and medium bushiness. The vegetative period begins with early-mid flowering time, lasting about 60-65 days to the first mowing and 85 days to full seed maturity. Niizhnegorodskaya alfalfa is resistant to winter conditions and drought, and also possesses medium resistance to verticillium wilt, making it a reliable choice for various climatic zones.

This variety is intended for use in field and fodder crop rotations, as well as on short-term pastures as a legume component. It is distinguished by high yield: average yield of green mass over three mowings reaches 208 c/ha, hay - 57 c/ha, seeds - 3.4 c/ha. Moreover, Niizhnegorodskaya alfalfa serves as an excellent nectar plant, improves soil fertility by enriching it with organic matter and nitrogen, and can be used as green fertilizer. Due to its decorative attractiveness and useful properties, the variety is also used for decorative purposes and greening.
