This trait is essential for determining both the feed value of hay or haylage and the speed of regrowth after cutting. The breeding strategy centered on optimizing the balance between vegetative biomass production and recovery rate.

Resistance as a Key Yield Driver

The primary technological value of 'Tambovchanka' lies in its genetic resistance to a complex of diseases that typically undermine the profitability of alfalfa cultivation:

• Phytopathological Profile: The cultivar exhibits pronounced resistance to root rots, which are the leading cause of stand thinning by the third year of production.
• Defense Against Foliar Infections: The selection process focused on blocking the spread of Mycosphaerella leaf spot and brown leaf spot.
