Description
The spring oat variety "ARGUMENT" is a medium-late, tall feed variety designed for cultivation in the Western Siberia and Eastern Siberia regions, including the Altai Krai. The plant is characterized by medium height with a semi-erect habit, and strong pubescence of leaf sheaths and the upper stem node. The panicle is semi-unilateral with semi-upward branch arrangement, drooping florets, and glumes of medium length with a medium-intensity waxy coating. The grain is large, with a 1000-grain mass of 36-45 grams, ensuring high-quality grain for feed purposes. The variety is distinguished by above-average resistance to lodging, which aids in crop preservation under adverse weather conditions. The vegetation period is 75-96 days, with ripening occurring 2-4 days later compared to the Korifei and Orion varieties. In terms of drought resistance, the variety is slightly inferior to standards, but possesses resistance to ear blight and moderate susceptibility to crown rust and bacterial burn. Average yield of dry matter reaches 52.4 centners per hectare, exceeding the Korifei standard by 6.9 centners, while the maximum grain yield was recorded at 62.4 centners in the Kemerovo region. "ARGUMENT" is recommended for use in crop rotation and animal husbandry, as it ensures the production of high-quality grain suitable for feeding livestock. Protein content in the grain ranges from 9.2% to 14.2%, making this variety a valuable feed resource. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and adaptation to growing conditions in the specified regions, the "ARGUMENT" variety is a reliable choice for farmers focused on feed production.
