Description
PEREDOVIK is a mid-maturing spring oat (Avena sativa L.) variety, distinguished by its resistance to shattering and lodging. The plant has a medium height with a semi-erect bush; the thousand-grain mass ranges from 31 to 43 grams. The variety belongs to the brunnea and mutica-aristata types, providing excellent agronomic characteristics and adaptation to various climatic conditions. The panicle is of medium length, two-sided with horizontally arranged branches, drooping spikelets, and the glume has a weak or medium waxy coating. The vegetative period ranges from 66 to 84 days, making it a medium-early variety suitable for various regions. PEREDOVIK demonstrates high resistance to diseases, including crown rust, powdery mildew, and root rots, as well as moderate susceptibility to loose smut. Protein content in the grain reaches 13.6%, indicating high crop quality. Average yield of the variety in various regions ranges from 28.7 to 51.4 centners per hectare, confirming its productivity and adaptability. The variety is recommended for cultivation in a wide range of areas in Russia, including Amur Oblast, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Krai, as well as the Volga-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, North Caucasus, and Lower Volga regions. Oat PEREDOVIK also possesses useful agronomic properties, such as improving soil structure and suppressing weed growth. It is well-suited for cultivation on acidic and peat soils, and effectively releases easily available potassium, making it an excellent predecessor for vegetable crops such as tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers. Harvest is recommended at the early stage of mass flowering, which allows to preserve grain quality and increase its nutritional value.
