URAL 2

Spring barley variety URAL 2 is a mid-late, tall cereal crop with productive bushiness and an erect stem ranging from 130 to 145 cm in height. Leaves are dark green, wide, and glabrous, positioned at an angle of 30-50 degrees to the stem. The panicle is semi-loose, slightly drooping, unilateral, containing 64 to 120 elongated grains with a bright yellow hull and well-defined awns. The vegetative period is 95-105 days, allowing the variety to be used in various climatic zones of the Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian, and Far Eastern regions.

Variety URAL 2 is distinguished by high grain and green mass yield. Average grain yield reaches 33 ц/ha, while green mass yield is 400-495 ц/ha, significantly exceeding the indicators of standard varieties. Crude protein content in green mass is about 10.5%, making this barley a valuable fodder plant. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 35 to 43 g, and grain natural weight is about 422 g/l, indicating good product quality.

The variety is resistant to lodging and drought, ensuring crop stability in complex conditions. However, it is moderately susceptible to loose smut, susceptible to powdery smut, and highly susceptible to crown rust. Thanks to these characteristics and the high quality of the grain, barley URAL 2 is recommended for cultivation for both grain and green mass in various agro-climatic zones, including steppe and forest-steppe regions.
