Description
Viatsky is a mid-maturing spring variety of naked oat (Avena sativa L.), characterized by a vegetative period of 78 to 92 days. The plant is medium height, ranging from 77 to 110 cm, with a 1000-grain weight of 26-32 grams. The clump is intermediate, resistant to lodging, which ensures harvest stability. The panicle is two-sided with semi-erect branch arrangement, drooping ears, and long awnless glumes covered with a strong waxy coating. The variety lacks awns or exhibits them very weakly, which facilitates grain processing and use. The Viatsky variety is valued for its high-quality grain, which contains protein ranging from 14.9% to 16.5%, and fat content of approximately 4.38%. Grain density varies between 570-680 g/L, indicating density and good seed quality. The yield of the variety in recommended growing regions averages 23.5 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching up to 47.6 c/ha, confirming its high productivity. The variety shows drought resistance at the level of average standards, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. Viatsky oats are used for both food and grain-forage purposes, expanding their application in agriculture. However, the variety is susceptible to bacterial burn and highly susceptible to powdery mildew and crown rust, which requires attention to plant protection and adherence to agronomic practices. Approved growing regions include the Central, Volga-Vyatka, and Central Black Earth districts, where the variety shows stable and high results.
