Bessonovskiy Local onion is an early-maturing variety of onion with a maturation period from germination to mass yellowing of leaves of 55-78 days. It is grown primarily in a two-year culture from seed onions. The bulbs have a round-flat shape, dense structure and a medium weight from 35 to 46 grams. The dry skins are colored yellow, while the succulent parts are white. The onion has a sharp taste, which makes it universal for various culinary purposes. The variety is characterized by good storage ability, which ensures product preservation during the winter period. Bessonovskiy Local onion is drought-resistant, which allows for growing it in various climatic conditions. Yield ranges from 1.1 to 2.6 kg per square meter, which corresponds to 114-260 centners per hectare when grown from seed onions. Sowing seeds is recommended in open ground at the end of April - beginning of May to a depth of 1.0-1.5 cm using a 10x5 cm scheme. This variety is suitable for fresh consumption, especially in salads, as well as for canning and freezing. Despite high yield and early maturation, Bessonovskiy Local onion is susceptible to diseases such as powdery mildew and neck rot, which requires adherence to agronomic measures to prevent infections.
