Description
The Carmen variety is known for its high yield and stability. With proper agronomic techniques, one can harvest from 1.5 to 4 kilograms of high-quality onions per square meter. The onions have excellent maturity rates, reaching 90-100% maturity before harvest and 95-100% after drying. They are resistant to major diseases and pests, including downy mildew, onion fly, and neck rot, which significantly eases care and enhances crop reliability.
Carmen is well-suited for cultivation both from seeds as a single-crop and from sets as a two-crop. For larger bulbs, growing through seedlings is recommended. Optimal conditions include fertile, drained, non-acidic soils of light mechanical composition, as well as sunny plots with regular watering as the soil dries out. This variety has good storability and transportability, allowing the harvest to be stored for over six months and used throughout the winter period.
