Description
Elody bulbs are medium-sized, round, uniform, and have an attractive white color with high-quality outer scales. They possess good storage life and market appearance, allowing them to be used both for early harvest bunching and for processing. The green leaves are upright, strong, and waxy, facilitating onion bunching. The onion’s flavor is delicate and pleasant, making it a versatile product suitable for raw consumption, such as in salads, as well as for freezing, drying, and short-term storage.
To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to sow seeds at a rate of 1.2 million per hectare, either directly or via seedlings. Seeds are sown at the end of summer for spring harvest or in spring for late summer harvest. The onion demands high soil quality: it must be rich in humus and nutrients, well-prepared, permeable, and moderately moist. After germination, seedlings are thinned to a spacing of about 10 x 10 cm, promoting the formation of high-quality bulbs.
