FERAPON

FERAPON is a family onion variety of shallot, distinguished by its high bulb quality and versatility in use. The bulbs feature a burgundy-red color, round shape, and dense structure, ensuring high marketability. Each clump forms 6 to 11 calibrated bulbs weighing up to 70 grams each. The onion taste is semi-sharp, making it attractive for both fresh consumption and culinary processing. The leaves are thin, tender, and have an excellent flavor, allowing for early harvest of scallions.

It is a mid-season variety, maturing within 50-70 days after planting. It is recommended to grow it in a two-year culture from seed onions on fertile neutral soils with good drainage, as the onion does not tolerate waterlogging. For successful cultivation, seeds undergo preparation including warming, disinfection, trimming of the neck and bottom, and spraying with a complex fertilizer. Sowing is conducted at a soil temperature of 5-7 degrees, while care involves infrequent watering, weeding, and fertilizing.

After harvest, FERAPON onion yield is recommended to be dried under a shelter for 3-4 weeks, then stored in ventilated crates at a temperature of 18-22 degrees and humidity of 50-70%. The yield of this variety is about 1.4 kg per square meter.
