Description
Grateful Red F1 — an early-maturing hybrid of red onion for long-day conditions, maturing in 118-120 days after sowing. The bulbs have a round shape and a deep red coloration of outer scales, weighing between 130 to 250 grams, sometimes reaching up to 600 grams. The flesh is white, tender, and mildly spicy, making it suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and long-term storage for several months.
The hybrid is characterized by high uniformity of yield and a significant percentage of single-centered bulbs, ensuring stable harvests and product quality. The bulbs have excellent upper scale retention and high density, contributing to good storability. Grateful Red F1 is resistant to basal rot, false powdery mildew, and root rot, enhancing its reliability under various growing conditions.
Recommended for cultivation throughout Ukraine and Moldova, both as seedlings and direct sowing. Optimal temperature for onion development is 17-19 °C, with root systems penetrating soil to depths of 5 to 30 cm. Seed sowing rate is 1 million/ha, planted at a spacing of 1x10 cm, at a depth of 2 cm, using 4-8 g of seeds per square meter.
