Description
Growing the Gulliver variety begins with sowing seeds for seedlings in the first decade of March at a depth of about 1 cm. Seeds germinate in 12-15 days, and 40-50-day seedlings are transplanted into open ground according to a 10x25 cm scheme. During the growing season, it is recommended to perform 2-3 hillings to whiten the stems and obtain large, juicy parts. Regular weeding, loosening of interrow spaces, maintaining soil moisture, and feeding with complex mineral fertilizers approximately once every 10 days are also necessary.
The yield of the variety reaches 4-5 kg per square meter. Harvest begins in mid-August and continues until late autumn. The leek is well stored in a dark, cool place at a temperature of 0-1°С, while the vitamin C content in it increases during storage. Thanks to its large whitened stems, juiciness, and pleasant taste, leek Gulliver is a valuable product for various uses in home and industrial farming.
