Medusa Onion — an early-maturing hybrid of bulb onion, jointly developed by Dutch and Japanese breeders to achieve high yields of quality produce. The technical maturity period is 100 to 115 days after mass germination. The plant features a strong root system and high stress tolerance, enabling successful cultivation even under high temperatures and water deficiency. The hybrid is low-maintenance and tolerates dense planting without reducing yield.
Medusa bulbs have a round shape, uniform appearance, and bronze-brown outer scales. Fruit diameter ranges from 6 to 8 cm, and weight from 150 to 300 grams. The inner part of the bulbs is snow-white, indicating high product quality. The hybrid is suitable for both fresh market and mechanized harvesting. Seed germination exceeds 95%, with a recommended seeding rate of approximately 1,000,000 seeds per hectare.
