Siberian Onion is a medium-maturing winter variety of bulb onion developed by the Dutch seed company Bejo Zaden. The maturation period is approximately 250-260 days, allowing harvest in May-June. The bulbs are round with firm, dry, yellow-brown outer scales, and the inner flesh is white, juicy, succulent, and flavorful. The dry matter content in the bulbs reaches 8.8%, contributing to good storage longevity and preservation. The yield of this variety reaches 60 tons per hectare, making it productive and profitable for cultivation. The variety is distinguished by high cold resistance and regenerative ability, enabling successful cultivation in Ukraine and Moldova without the need for seedling method. Siberian Onion does not bolt and is resistant to fusarium rot, as well as to rotting and secondary sprouting during storage. The plant quickly germinates with the onset of warmth and tolerates sharp temperature fluctuations and prolonged frosts, making it a reliable choice for winter sowing. Seeds are sown at the end of August to allow the onion to strengthen before cold weather arrives, with a recommended sowing rate of 1-1.2 million seeds per hectare. Siberian Onion is adaptable to agronomic practices and requires minimal care, making it suitable for both experienced farmers and novice gardeners. It is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and long-term storage, expanding its application possibilities. Due to its dense internal layered structure and firm outer scales, the onion retains its quality for an extended period, making it popular in the market and convenient for sale.
